A Word from Andy - Things are looking up, way up!
Well, it is still very early in the New Year and already I am seeing some very positives signs that the industry is loosening up and money is starting to flow again.
There is certainly a way to go before we are celebrating ‘the good old days’, but the experience I have had so far this year is proving that advanced exploration sites and mines are being favored, although some green fields exploration in good jurisdictions are being considered too. Gold is still a little dubious, but other metals like copper, nickel, tungsten, platinum and iron are all seeing a lift.
The recent investment conference here in Vancouver was buzzing in comparison to last year, and people seem positive about the outlooks. Indeed, my own workload reflects a change – I am currently dealing with projects in Guyana, Mongolia, British Columbia, Newfoundland, Arkansas and the Yukon. I have even had discussions with some of the space industries that are designing programs to retrieve minerals mined from asteroids!
So all in all, I am excited for what the future holds, and I feel a lot more confident in my chosen profession than I did one year ago. The key is to remain positive, and remember that things will only keep improving.
It looks like we are over the hump, people!
